Cours De De La Lentreprise Les Strategy

Many golfers who visit Portugal and Spain for golfing holidays in the sun are looking for alternative golf courses to investigate and explore. Forty-five minutes from Faro lies the beautiful town of Ayamonte, away from the hustle and bustle of Vilamoura but surrounded by top quality golf courses. Enjoy a completely new golfing environment for a golf break and drive east from Faro to uncover some fantastic new golf courses..

Golf Near Portugal on Costa de La Luz

  • The Costa de le Luz is the beautiful coastline that lies in the far east of Portugal and sweeps down into Spain. The Guadiana river separates the two countries, and the town of Ayamonte lies on the coast at the mouth of the river.
  • In 1991 the area was brought to life by the opening of the spectacular Guadiana bridge that now connects Portugal to Spain. On the journey by car from Faro, six golf courses line the route; Quinta Da Ria, Quinta Da Cima, Benamor, Monte Rei, Quinta do Vale and Castro Marim.
  • All are worth playing and offer a much quieter tranquil golfing experience than the often oppressive and claustrophobic Western Algarve. But perhaps the best of all the golf courses, considering price and quality of the golf is the 36 hole golf complex Costa Esuri, just over the border in Spain.

Costa Esuri Golf Club – West Course

  • Designed by Jose Canales this 36-hole golf complex offers two courses that are totally different in character. The West course is open and has many similarities to a links course. Although the initial three hundred yard walk to the first tee might put some off, the course extends out from the villas allowing the golfer to play in an environment devoid of buildings.
  • This is particularly unusual in Spain and Portugal and allows the golfer to enjoy the incredible wildlife that inhabits the course - a spill over of the Donana National Park.
  • Several of the holes lie on the banks of the Guadiana river and offer spectacular views of the countryside and over the river into Portugal less than a mile away.
  • As a test of golf it is a genuine pleasure to play. Opening with a relatively easy par four the course cleverly tightens until good golf has to be played to keep a score going.
  • This really is a very good golf course for both scratch players and the less experienced. The wide fairways make it less intimidating than many of the traditional Spanish courses but to make a score requires solid hitting.

Golf in the Algarve – East Course Costa Esuri

  • The second 18 holes is a tougher test from the start and demands that a player shape the ball to take on some of the tougher targets. Sensibly the club have introduced some very forward tees that make the tougher holes play relatively easy. Off the back tees beware - this is a real tough course.

  • Most players use a buggy on the East course and take a few extra balls as there are a few difficult water holes.

  • Before playing either course there is a practice ground near the clubhouse which allows hitting shots off grass rather than matts. And there is also a good putting green and chipping area.

The Costa Esuri Club

The Costa Esuri golf club is part of the Aymerich Golf Group and Golf Director Ricardo Bescansa and his team put a strong emphasis on personal service. From the moment a golfer walks into the clubhouse, to when the team offer advice on where to stay in the area, it appears everyone tries their hardest to please. If you get the chance this golf complex really is worth a visit and a blessed change from the busy Western Algarve.
