When senior bike riders are on Quebec bike paths, especially those that are part of the Route Verte, they almost feel as if they have reached bicycle heaven.

There are numerous roads throughout the French-speaking province of Canada that have been marked with the Route Verte, or Green Route. Whether visitors are with a tour of cyclists or on their own, they typically find a leisurely pace and wonderful courtesy on the part of other riders. The Route travels through lovely countryside, with towns that have a French flair, atmosphere and restaurants.

Close to the New York state border, in the town of Chambly, there are places to dine that welcome cyclists, such as Fourquet Fourchette, a beer hall and restaurant serving cuisine Quebequoise (including reindeer meat and local cheeses). Chambly is not far from Montreal, and riders can start in Montreal and even stay overnight there, and reach Chambly easily.
